Glazed Talons Goes Pink for October!

As many of you know, October will be Breast Cancer Awareness month, and that's only just a couple days away.

With that in mind, I've redesigned my color scheme, and added a Pink for October badge to my blog.

Go Pink for October is an event for women, sponsored by the lovely Andrea of Finger Painting Fingers blog.

Every Wednesday during October, I will break out my pink polishes and raise awareness for Breast Cancer. Cancer of any form, is a cause that is near to my heart. I had a favorite aunt who had breast cancer, and while I am not able to share her story with you, I can at least do what I can to help raise awareness for the cause.

So get ready to break out your pink polish and join us by sharing your pink manicures on Andrea's Facebook page. Even if you are not a blogger, this is a women's event. I would love to see you,my dear readers, share and help raise awareness for Breast Cancer,by going Pink for October.

Wet n' Wild Glitter Cost is No Issue - Pic Heavy

Hello everyone! For today's post I've swatched one of my Wet n' Wild glitters from last holiday's Ice Baby LE.

What can I say? This polish reminds of mermaids and the deep blue-green ocean.

Cost is No Issue is a blue teal glitter with blue micro square glitter, and larger teal hex glitter.
I got complete coverage in one coat on my index finger, but the rest of my nails needed a second and third coat to make them opaque. I used a coat of Gelous in between coats, and topped it off with a coat of Orly Sec 'n Dry.

I've been feeling a little blue of late. I finally got kicked out of my bloggin funk, when I read this post  over at my new nail friend Melissa's blog Dliteful Trends

I am wearing this glitter mani to test out a couple of new forms of glitter removal. I will be bringing you a comparison post of Essence Ready For Boarding Peel Off Base Coat, Elmer's glue method, and another peel off base coat that I came accross over on Amazon called Innisfree Eco Peel-Off Base Coat.

I should be back in a couple of days with the results of the comparison. Until then,TTFN

Stay lacquered,my dear nail friends ;-)

China Glaze Magnetix II: The Attraction Cannot Be Denied

Hello dear readers,

If you're into magnetic polish, here is the latest news from China Glaze regarding the release of their latest Magnetix II collection! I just saw the actual collection at Sally's Beauty Supply recently.

                                          THE ATTRACTION CANNOT BE DENIED
China Glaze Introduces Second Collection of Magnetic Nail Lacquers

Los Angeles, CA - (September 2012): Magnetic nail art took the beauty world by storm earlier

this year, creating a nail art force that was hard for anyone to resist. Following the phenomenal

success of its first-generation Magnetix collection, China Glaze® introduces Magnetix II, an

expanded second collection of magnetic nail lacquers.

As with the first Magnetix line, Magnetix II by China Glaze® is infused with iron powders that shift

when exposed to the China Glaze® Magnetix II Magnet. The China Glaze® Magnetix II collection

features six dramatic metallic shades:

Gold Fusion -- Rich gold

Positively In Love -- Gorgeous magenta

Bond-Tastic -- Soft rust

Get Charged -- Dark Lavender

Sparks Will Fly -- Chic cobalt blue

Con-Fused? - a lively green

Along with the new shade line up, China Glaze® has created a second, specially designed magnet
featuring three additional unique designs – a swirling circle, vertical lines and an intricate lattice.
The separate magnet allows more design options, especially when coupled with the original China
Glaze® Magnetix Magnet. Alternate designs, rotate the magnet, play with the positioning on the
nail – the art creations are endless!

To create your own unique China Glaze® Magnetix II manicure:
1. Select desired magnet design. Choose from circles, vertical lines or lattice effects.

Swirling Circles
Intricate Lattice

Vertical Lines

2. Apply one coat of China Glaze® Strong Adhesion Base Coat to clean nails; allow to dry
3. Designing one nail at a time for best results, apply one coat of Magnetix II nail lacquer.

Immediately hold the China Glaze® Magnetix II Magnet over damp nail for 5-10 seconds,
positioning so the built-in finger rest holds it steady. (If you happen to touch the magnet to
damp polish, simply wipe clean with nail polish remover – it won’t damage the magnet.)

4. Once the design is fully developed and nails are dry, seal with China Glaze® Fast Forward
Top Coat.

China Glaze® has also released a step-by-step video for the Magnetix II collection which can be

viewed on China Glaze®’s official YouTube Channel.

China Glaze® Magnetix II is available now at salons and beauty supply stores nationwide with

polishes and magnet sold separately. The collection will be available in a 12-piece counter display
and as open stock colors and magnet.

China Glaze® is free of DBP, toluene, and added formaldehyde. For more information, visit, follow China Glaze® on Facebook (@ChinaGlazeOfficial) and Twitter

So are you "drawn" to any of these magnetix offerings from China Glaze? My favorite color is Sparks Will Fly and my favorite design is the Intricate Lattice.

Which ones will you be picking up?

Stay Lacquered,my friends ;-)

Shimmer Polish Wendy! ( pic heavy )

Hello dear readers,

Today I have the extra special pleasure of showing you a gorgeous glitter I received by way of giveaway hosted by the lovely Cindy of  ShimmerPolish on her facebook page,a few weeks ago.

Look! So many glitters packed into one bottle! Ah-maz-ing!

Note the raised heart right next to the name of the polish.

And on to the swatches!

Here Wendy is pictured on my left hand, in sunlight, showing a purple/copper base with random blue glitter.

A very similar, almost identical photo in sunlight.

Wendy on my right hand, with the ring finger accented with one coat of Zoya Katherine.

A closer shot of Wendy in all her purple goodness :-) I ask was Cindy psychic? Did she know my favorite color is purple?

Wendy, pictured indoors,in the lightbox ,showing more of her copper quality.

And again in lower light.

I have to admit this photo looks a little messy, that's because I went a little "mental" with the glitter. That is what happens when me and glitter get together for an afternoon. I get all giddy with glee, and just start slapping it all over the place. It's a wonder I manage to keep it just on the nails :-)

This polish has "kabooglebonkers" of glitter in it! There are sooooooooooo many colors besides purple and copper. There is a blue,or blue green, fuschia and gold.

As if that weren't enough...

I just had to let Zoya Katherine join the glitter party for an accent nail. Katherine compliments Wendy with her plummy jelly squishiness!

Shimmer Polish can be found on etsy. Here is the link to the shop ShimmerPolish

here is the link to Cindy's blog

and you can like Shimmer Polish on Facebook

Shimmer Polishes are $12
Cindy also makes custom polishes for $13

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Stay Lacquered,my lovelies ;-)

Things I Love At the Moment: ONE YEAR Blogiversary Giveaway!

Help celebrate  illustratedlady of Things I Love At the Moment for her ONE YEAR Blogiversary!

There will be 5 prizes to be had. The one pictured above is just one of them. Giveaway is open internationally except Italy. Ends Sept 18th,2012 Click here to enter!

What you do when you're in a hurry and you have two different colors on your hands, you just got done swatching, and as my husband says,"Your fingers don't match." As I was in a hurry to get ready,I slapped a coat of China Glaze Crushed Candy over my recent swatch of Zoya Frida, and woila! Instantly fashionable to go wherever,or most wherevers.

I know alot of you are incredibly over the crackle. As a collector,I can't be over it yet, because this is actually the first time I have had a chance to use Crushed Candy. Let me explain.

We polish addicts, are collectors. When a new collection of polishes makes its debut, we like to scoop up the entire collection, even if it sits in our untried bin for months (or over a year in this case.) No need to worry.Polish doesn't expire,as some marketing tactics would have you believe. If your polish should thicken a bit, that doesn't mean it's all over. In this case I like to take my preferred Seche Restore, put a couple of drops in the thickened polish, let it sit for overnight, and there ya go! It's "restored",back to it's original viscosity.

I did find that after sitting for many moons,my 1st edition China Glaze Crackle cremes, had thickened somewhat. One so badly it needed more than just a few drops of Restore.

And on to the mani...says myself  to the rambling heathen within...

So with this all I did was apply one coat of China Glaze Crushed Candy which is a light teal creme. The minute I applied it there were those first few seconds where the polish does absolutely nothing but sit on your nail. That's when I'm thinking "is it going to crack or not?" Big sigh of relief! Whew! So one coat, then a coat of Gelous to smooth it out, although if I had more time,I think an extra coat of Gelous would have been in order.

And here it is in the shade. The first photo in sunlight.

And my final shot from my lightbox.

Now what do you think? Of the photos,I mean. I have had a preference for showing my polishes in sunlight and shade.I also like this shot in the lightbox. I actually didn't used to like shooting in the lightbox, because I didn't like the way the photos were coming out. Then about a week ago,my husband said to put the lamps in a different place. I did,and there you go.I am more happy with the lightbox photos! Good, because when we get to rainy season,I will need some decent lighting.

Well, thanks for putting up with my ramble for today.

Stay Lacquered,my friends ;-)

To be clear about the giveaway...

I am sorry to have to say this,

YOU MUST BE 18 YRS OF AGE or older to enter my giveaway . At the bottom of the Rafflecopter widget, where it says "View the  Terms and Conditions" , it says you must be 18 years of age to enter.    I would prefer to not cause any discord with someone's parent, asking me why their daughter received nail polish from a stranger on the internet. If you have entered already and are under 18, your entry will be disqualified. This makes me sad :-(

I do not want to disqualify anyone.

Please follow the rules.

Thank you kindly.

Friday with Zoya Frida!

Hello my dear readers!

Today's post features the last polish from the Zoya fall collection. And I saved the best for last! My favorite of all the fall collection is a beautiful teal blue gloss called Frida!

What Does My Name Mean? Frida, The Meaning of Names (1958-9-28)

What does the name “Frida” mean? A name is much more than just a name!
F is for feeling, your sympathetic way.
R is for rely, everyone's trustworthy friend.
I is for impressive, your list of qualities.
D is for dream, your beacon ahead.
A is for altruism, the unselfish you.
The name “Frida” is of German origin and it means “Peace”. It’s a name commonly given to girls. There are 3 other names that are similar to this one.
According to the 2006 U.S. Social Security Administration data, the name “Frida” is not a popular baby girl’s name in Texas. Imagine that, only 95 babies in Texas have the same name as you in 2006. Across the entire United States a total of only 320 babies also bear the same first name during the same year. From 1880 to 2011, the highest recorded use of the name “Frida” was in 2003 with a total of 407 babies.
Since 1880, your name was recorded 4,551 times in the American baby names history. Do you want to know how popular is the name Frida?’

Your name in reverse order is “Adirf”. A random rearrangement of the letters in your name (anagram) will give ‘Adifr’. (How do you pronounce that?)

Your past life Frida:
I do not know how you feel about it, but you were a female in your last earthly incarnation. You were born somewhere around the territory of Southern Japan approximately on 825. Your profession was trainer, holder of the fine animals, birds, insects.
Your brief psychological profile in that past life:
You are a person with huge energy, good in planning and supervising. If you were just garbage-man, you were chief garbage-man.
Lessons that your last past life brought to present:
You are bound to learn to understand other people and to meet all life difficulties with joyful heart. You should help others, bringing them spirit of joy.
Now do you remember?

Source: The Meaning of Names

Interesting stuff,names! Gotta love it!

Now on to the swatches!

Frida at 4 coats taken in my lightbox.

And Frida outdoors in bright sunlight.

Frida applied a whole lot easier than the other two glosses.I am not sure, except it might be because I like her so much?

I applied two coats to the whole nail, and then noticed my tips were the ones not getting any coverage,so I dabbed the third coat onto my tips as if I were doing a funky french. After that though, the effect was not that noticeable on camera,so I went on to apply a 4th coat on to the entire nail. I must have taken at least 30 photos of this polish today, and these two were the only ones I was satisfied enough  to show you.

Frida, although sheer,is a nicely pigmented dark warm-toned teal blue gloss. As with the other glosses,Frida took 4 coats for opacity. It is 4 coats of gorgeous teal blue jelly! I love it!

There is a special deal going on until midnight 9/7 for Zoya's Fall Collection in the form of trios of nail polishes. You can get a trio for $12,normally $24,that's 50% off! Here is the link to the Good Morning America promo

Meanwhile, I hope you enjoyed the swatches of Zoya's fall collection. I promise to do some jelly sandwiches soon.

Until then,

Stay Lacquered,my friends ;-)

(Poliah featured in this post was provided by Zoya for review. Please see my disclosure policy for more information.)
